Stage IV Lung Cancer Survivor, Justin Andrews!!!
... the story behind the Survivor shirt...
Justin and his wife, Kristy went out to eat lunch after their first visit with Justin's new lung cancer Oncologist, Dr. Jeffrey Crawford at Duke Medical Center. This was just four days following diagnosis, and the multi-network celebrity-commentated Stand Up to Cancer telethon. In-between big mouthfuls of salad (which was really the first time Justin ate since receiving the diagnosis phone call) Justin said "I wonder if I can buy one of those shirts they were wearing on that telethon". Smiling, his wife, Kristy replied, "Oh, I'm sure you can... you want to get one that says 'In the Fight'"? Justin looked right at her with that determination and drive in his eyes that got him to where he is today and claimed, "No, I want one that says 'Survivor'. I'll hold onto it until they say I'm in remission. I will beat this".
His yellow shirt beaming that beautiful word 'SURIVIVOR' had hung in their bedroom for almost a year, with Justin vowing he would not wear it until he was perfectly healthy again. Justin would wake up each morning to that shirt staring at him. Even after eight months of failed treatments and disappointment, Justin continued to know, trust, and believe that the day would come where he would wear it. On August 12th the Andrews family celebrated his recent remission, and Justin was finally able to put this shirt over his head!
PRAISE GOD!!!!
